Access Credit Union 'Tell Us Your Story' Scholarship Program

Amount: Eights awards, one worth $5,000, two worth $2,500 and five worth $1,500

Who can apply?

  • Applicants must reside in Manitoba
  • Applicants must currently attend high school full-time (be it public school, private school, or home school) and be eligible to graduate in June of the current year
  • Applicants must plan to continue their education at a recognized post-secondary institution in fall of the current year

What will I have to do?

  • Complete the application form
  • Write 500-800-words, or film a 1-2 minute long video, on how you have made a positive impact on someone's life. What is an experience that has shaped who you are today? Describe an act of kindness you showed to someone. Share a difficult or challenging experience and how you found strength to overcome it.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation
  • Submit your most recent transcript

Brandon Walli ‘Phones Down, Eyes Up’ Memorial Scholarship

LM Scholarship

Award Amount: $500
Who can apply?

  • To be eligible for this Scholarship you must:
    • Currently be enrolled or expects to be enrolled in a degree program (2 years of length or greater) by September
    • A student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit an answer to the essay question prior to the submission deadline. A student must be a US resident or a Canadian resident and must also attend a school in Canada or the US

What do I have to do?

  • Write an Essay (no word limit) about a situation you have been involved in or someone you know has been involved in where better safety procedures would have prevented an injury. Explain in detail what safety procedures you believe should have been in place to prevent the injury and how they would have prevented the injury

Got a Spine Scholarship

Deadline: May 2, 2024
Award Amount: $500
Who can apply?

  • Be attending college or university no later than October of 2023.
  • Be attending college or university on a full-time basis by October of 2023.
  • Have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater during their last academic year.
  • Be a U.S. or Canadian resident.
  • Be attending a school in the U.S. or Canada by October of the fall term

TC Energy Scholarship Program

Award Amount: Multiple awards of up to $5,000

Who can apply?

TC Energy currently has three categories within their scholarship program, the STEM Scholarship, Indigenous Legacy, and Trades Scholarship. The basic criteria is as follows:

  • Must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Must be located in a community near TC energy's operations or projects
  • Enrolled in a post-secondary institution for the upcoming academic year

Carpathia Credit Union Scholarship

Who can apply?

  • Must be a member of Carpathia Credit Union for at least two years prior to graduation

  • Must attend an approved post-secondary institution in the fall of 2023

Credit Union Scholar Athlete

Deadline: May 6, 2024

Award Amount: Four awards each worth $1,000

Who can apply? 

  • Participate in a minimum of two (2) interscholastic MHSAA recognized athletic programs. 
  • Minimum average of eighty-five percent (85%) (2022-2023 school year). 
  • Must be taking a full course load, with at least two (2) 40S level courses. 
  • Grade 12 students only (second year grade 12 not eligible). 
  • Athletics, academics and citizenship taken into consideration. 

What will I have to do?

  • Write a 200-word essay on the importance of high school sport, and how you have benefited by being a part of school athletics. 
  • One Passport Size Photograph - (Head and shoulders) must accompany the application. (please ensure that the photo is securely attached to the application, not scanned photo's please) 
  • Two Character Reference Letters must be submitted.

Outstanding Take Action Award

Award Amount: Four Awards worth $250
Who can apply?

  • Be enrolled in and successfully complete Global Issues: Citizenship and Sustainability (40S) in the 2022-2023 school year
  • Students enrolled in second term must be expected to successfully complete the course by their teacher
  • Be graduating from a Manitoba school in June 2023 or returning to study at a Manitoba school in September 2023
  • Be a resident of Manitoba
  • Complete and submit an application 

What will I have to do?

  • Applicants must complete the online application which requires them to explain the following:
    • Summary of project
    • Concept (e.g.: originality, assessed need, etc.)
    • Scope and range of project (e.g.: Who did/will the project reach? How many people were/will be involved or influenced?)
    • Content (e.g.: How does the topic relate to the Areas of Inquiry? How did/will the project educate, inform, or raise awareness of an issue?)
    • Personal benefit (e.g.: What did you learn from doing this project/about the issue/about your community?)

Who can apply?

  • Open to Manitoba residents
    • Preference given to Volleyball Manitoba Provincial Team participants
  • Must be a volleyball athlete, in Grade 12, and heading to post-secondary

What will I have to do?

  • Must be nominated by an individual able to provide:
    • a 150-word biography of the athlete
    • video submission demonstrating the athlete’s court presence, spirit of sport, team and passion
  • Must provide a letter of support

Aging Matters Scholarship

Snoman Scholarship

Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be active members of a snowmobile club that is within one of the SNOMAN regions for the past two years
  • Applicants must be graduating high school students
  • Applicants must be Manitoba residents enrolled as full-time students at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution
  • The applicants are actively involved in their communities

What will I have to do?

  • Complete a SNOMAN Scholarship application form available at the SNOMAN office or via the “Apply Today” button below
  • Forms must be received by the 15th of May each year
  • Applications must be accompanied by a letter of support from:
    • the president of their snowmobile club in which the applicant is a member; an
    • the principal or teacher from the applicant’s high school
  • Applicants must include a transcript of school marks from grades eleven and twelve

Winnipeg Humane Society Animal Welfare Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,500

Who Should Apply?    

  • Manitoba residents between 15 and 18 years of age
  • Students who demonstrate outstanding efforts in making the world a kinder place for non-companion animals (farmed animals, animals in labs, zoo animals, wildlife, etc.)

What will I have to do?            

  • Submission 300-600 words that outlines the applicant’s efforts in improving animal welfare, and how the funds will benefit the applicant if chosen
  • Provide two references (non-family or friend)

Shevchenko Foundation Alpha Omega Alumnae Bursary Award

  • Female students of Ukrainian Canadian heritage

  • Be entering full-time first year studies in an undergraduate degree at an accredited university

Who can apply?

  • Manitoba Residents in Grade 12 
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate acceptance into a full-time, accredited post-secondary degree or diploma program that is directly related to their category of application, for the upcoming academic year
  • Scholarship winners will only receive their award upon demonstrating proof and acceptance of such enrollment, and payment of tuition for the upcoming academic year

The Peter Scouras Memorial Scholarship Fund

  • Open to youth aged 16-25 who are entering or are currently enrolled in a Manitoba post-secondary institution

B. Davis Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000

Who can apply? 

  • Grade 11 and 12 students, and students currently attending a post-secondary institution

What will I have to do?

  • Write an essay (maximum 1000 words) on the following topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most.  Discuss why you believe these traits are so important and how you feel they are developed in an individual
  • Include your name and the school you are attending this year and next

Canadian Hearing Services National Scholarship

Deadline: May 24, 2024

Amount: Scholarships worth $3,000 a year for full time students and $1,000 a year for part-time students. Number of scholarships will be based on number of qualified applicants.

Who can apply?

  • Be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada
  • Have documented hearing loss of 50dB or greater, pure tone average, in each ear (50dB or greater in the left ear AND 50dB or greater in the right ear)
  • Be 17 years of age or older and attending an accredited post-secondary institution in the Fall of 2023 as first-time or returning students

What will I have to do?

Eligibility is based on the overall assessment of the following application materials:

  • Completed and signed scholarship application form
  • Photocopy proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency with date of birth
  • At least one audiogram documenting hearing loss of 50dB or greater, pure tone average, in each ear (50dB or greater in the left ear AND 50dB or greater in the right ear)
  • Proof of Fall 2022 acceptance to an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Community Involvement checklist, as outlined in Section 2 of application form 
  • Two Referral Forms submitted via email by your references as outlined in Section 3 of application form

Robert Allard Award

  • Be of Métis ancestry
  • Commitment to the Francophone and Métis community

    • Your Personal Profile including your school, field and language of study
    • A description of your community and cultural involvement, including with Union Nationale Metisse Saint-Joseph du Manitoba

Manitoba Jurisdictional Educational Bursary

Deadline: May 26, 2024

Award Amount: Two awards available, each worth $1000

Who can apply?

  • Open to students graduating from grade 12 in a Manitoba school
  • Decision is based on financial need, participation in extra-curricular activities, letter about future plans, marks and reference letters
  • The successful recipients will have their names announced at their graduation.
  • The bursary will only be given in the second semester of their first year of post-secondary education*

What will I have to do?  

  • Submit an official transcript of first semester marks of grade 12
  • Submit a letter indicating financial need and future plans
  • List, using separate columns, participation in school, community, sports, church, etc.
  • Provide two letters of reference, one from a teacher or school principal and the other from a respected person of the student's choosing

Business Council of Manitoba: Aboriginal Education Awards

Deadline: May 31, 2024

Award Amount: 

  • Each award is $2,000 for college students and $3,000 for university students
  • All applicants are eligible to reapply each year of their studies for a maximum of three years
  • Recipients of the awards may be considered for summer and/or part-time employment with one of the Business Council’s member companies

Who can apply?

  • Students of Indigenous ancestry who are permanent residents of Manitoba and have resided in Manitoba for the last 12 months
  • Must be enrolled or plan to enroll in a Manitoba public post – secondary institution in the upcoming academic year, in any discipline (trades, business, general studies, science, etc.), and maintain full–time student status (at least a 60% course load)
  • Must need financial assistance

MADD Canada Bursary Fund

Who can apply?

  • Canadian students who have had an immediate family member (mother, father, legal guardian, or sibling) killed in an impaired driving related crash and are pursuing any full-time post-secondary education program

Luke Santi Memorial Award for Student Achievement

Award Amount: $1,000
Who can apply?

  • Graduating high school student who has been accepted into a full-time academic program in Physical Sciences at a Canadian university in the fall
  • A minimum 80% average is required for this award based on copies of official high school transcripts
  • A demonstrated passion for physics outside of the normal academic environment (e.g. being a member of a local amateur astronomy club, volunteering with a physics association)
  • Demonstrated interest in a wide range of activities outside of physics (e.g. community involvement, sports, debating clubs, etc., including volunteer activities in service of others)

  • The winning story will be published in Air Canada’s enRoute Magazine and on the Canada Writes website. The winning author will be interviewed on CBC Radio and be awarded a two-week residency at an Artist’s Colony
  • 4 Runners-Up will receive $1,000
