Elementary French Grades 3-6
The basic French program focuses on authentic communication. A balanced literacy based approach is used. The program follows a cycle of speaking-reading-writing, with an emphasis on oral communication.
French culture is regularly integrated into the teaching and learning of French. The value of learning about other languages and cultures is also fostered.
Junior High French Grades 7-9
This course will be taught with a communicative experiential approach in which students will be expected to participate. This method of learning uses games/activities in order to practice and internalize the target vocabulary and grammar and has a focus on communication. Along with learning how to read, write, listen and speak French students will also learn language learning strategies and cultural aspects of French.
