Practical ArtsDecember 29, 2022
This Sargent Park School program is attended by neighboring schools as well as our own grade 7, 8, and 9 students. It offers electronics, graphic arts, foods/nutrition, and clothing/textiles. The Practical Arts dress codes apply to all shops areas, as specified by the Superintendent in 2011 due to safety concerns. All clothes should NOT be loose fitting, NO shorts or sandals, remove all jewelry, and long hair must be tied back. I pods, cell phones or other electronic devices are not permitted.

Students in Grade 7, 8 and 9 demonstrate the application of the New Canada Food Guide for Healthy Eating in their: food choices; meal planning; consumerism; principles of kitchen and food safety; proper table and service etiquette; and produce a food product from a recipe using technology and time management.
Textile Arts and Design
Students in grade 7, 8 and 9 learn basic hand sewing and sewing machine skills by designing and creating take-home projects such as pillows, clothing and bead-work. Students will work on their teamwork, problem solving and time management skills while in the sewing lab.
