On May 25, 2023, students, staff, parents, special guests and the greater community gathered at Grosvenor School to celebrate 100 years of learning and growing. The centennial celebration started with an homage to the past with greetings from special guests, songs, traditional drumming and a grand unveiling of their outdoor mosaic mural created by the students.

Principal Camie Lawson shared stories of the school including her pride for the school’s rich history as well as recent accomplishments.

“We are known and remembered for our incredible fine arts evenings, STEM Lab, mindfulness teaching and our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, to name a few. Dedicated staff over the years have offered numerous clubs to our students that give them another avenue to thrive. We’ve educated generations of students, many of whom have gone on to do great things in their communities and beyond. We’ve built a strong sense of community among our students, and staff, and we’ve fostered a love of learning that has endured for 100 years,” shared principal Comrie Lawson.

Grosvenor School was the first school in Winnipeg School Division to have crossing patrols help students cross the street safely. In 2013, Grosvenor was recognized as an Eco-Global School on the transformation level, the highest level of sustainability. In 2017, science experiments created by Grosvenor students were chosen to compete at the International Space Station.

Community members were welcomed into the 100-year-old school to walk the halls and explore student projects about the various decades of the school's history including photos and memories from past students and staff.

“As we look to the future, we’re excited about all that lies ahead. We know that the next 100 years will bring new challenges and opportunities, but we’re confident that we’ll continue to thrive as a school community,” said Lawson. “We’ll continue to provide students with a top-notch education, and we’ll continue to foster a sense of community and belonging that sets us apart. We’ll continue to GROW at GROSVENOR!”

Happy 100th Birthday Grosvenor School!
