Kelvin Spirit 2015

April 15, 2021

The Kelvin community celebrated the season with two holiday-themed events in December: the 16th Annual Holiday Breakfast and the First Annual Holiday Alumni Party.

Kelvin elves hosted Dufferin elementary students for the Holiday Breakfast and Celebration on Dec. 11.

The young students were paired with Kelvin "buddies," and headed to the cafeteria for a holiday breakfast.  The feast was followed by fun activities, including face painting, cookie decorating, and improv.  Next, the students gathered for a visit from Santa and his elves as they disbursed stockings and presents to each and every child.

The breakfast marked the culmination of months of planning and anticipation.  Countless Kelvinites demonstrated the spirit of volunteerism as they worked together to fundraise and purchase a new toy for each child, contact local businesses for support, make decorations, bake hundreds of cookies, and sew stockings.

Joy, laughter, and fun was clearly seen at the holiday breakfast.  When the spirit of the season meets the spirit of caring, great things happen as we discover that, together, we can make a difference.

On Dec. 12, the History Club students hosted a festive reception for Kelvin alumni and former staff. Memorabilia from the decades was displayed in the Library. Guests were invited to share memories of their time at Kelvin on paper or on video. The memories will be shared on the Kelvin History website, http://www.kelvinhistory.org/.
