The students in our class have had a wonderful start to the school year. We started off the year with some review on numbers sequences and math strategies. We began our Connecting with Canadians unit in Social Studies. The students have been discussing their rights and responsibilities as students, children and members of a community. In English Language Arts the students have been working hard on their writing. Every morning the students have been practicing sentence printing – editing for punctuation and uppercase letters. The class began Math Centres the last week of September. Students get a chance to work with the teacher, work with an EA, do math on technology and play math games. They have had a lot of fun doing this!
In October the class will be continuing our Connecting with Canadians unit in Social Studies, as well as our Soils in the Environment in Science. In Math, the class will be continuing to Number Sequence as well as starting our Patterns unit.
It was great getting to meet all the parents at the Meet the Staff event in September. Thank you to everyone who came out! I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with this new group of students and families!
