It is hard to believe that we are in the last month of the school year! I am so proud of all the learning that has taken place in our classroom this year. There is so much to celebrate! As we head into June, we continue to work on growing as readers and writers. We are reading daily in our classroom and creating writing pieces to practice our spelling, printing, and punctuation. The students have taken an interest in creating their own stories, so they have been working on putting their stories into a book format. They are creating covers for their books, illustrations, editing their writing, and creating an author page that tells their readers all about who they. Once they have completed their books, they are reading them to their classmates. It has been such a wonderful experience for everyone! Sharing their own books with each other has really brought out the excitement in writing and reading. In Math, we will review the math concepts that we worked on throughout the school year to build on those very important foundational math skills to build confidence in math. We are close to finishing up our Inquiry Unit on Plants. Students just completed creating a plant of their own made from recycled items. Their plant had to include criteria such as roots, stem, leaves, and flowers. They started out by creating and designing their plant on paper and labelling it. What a rich and fun experience we all had during the creating process! Their plants all look so unique, and the students are so very proud of them. Throughout out Plant Unit, students have worked on coming up with some wonders that they have about plants, finding out the answers to their wonders, creating still drawings of various plants, and working on plant observation books to monitor plant growth. I am so fortunate to have shared a classroom with such wonderful students this school year. Thank you for gifting me this memorable year with your children!
