Mr. Macdonell

December 8, 2025

November has been a busy and exciting month in our classroom! In Math, students have been sharpening their multiplication skills and have even begun working with 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication—no small feat! They have also been making steady progress in their daily math booklets, which continue to reinforce key concepts and build confidence.

In Social Studies, we have launched an engaging new unit on early European exploration. Through class discussions, hands-on activities, and individual inquiry, students are beginning to explore the rich and complex history of Canada.

In Science, we wrapped up our unit on forces and simple machines with an exciting project: creating our very own Rube Goldberg machines. We are now beginning our unit on substances, where students will learn about different materials, their properties, and how they can change.

In English Language Arts, students have been working hard to strengthen their writing skills through daily paragraph edits, spelling practice, and weekly paragraph writing. We are ending the term with an independent novel study, giving students the chance to dive deeply into a novel of their choice. Please remember that reading at home is essential—many students have been forgetting to return their reading logs. Let’s work together to help make daily reading a consistent habit!
