Tipi Joe visits ESWO

Joe Lanceley, also known as Tipi Joe, did workshops with each of our classes. The weather started out rainy, but that did not dampen the spirits of Joe or the kids. He simply moved the tipi teachings indoors. As the weather improved, the bigger tipi was set up outside.

He sets up and takes down for each class. He explains which way it faces, why, how to enter the tipi respectfully and provides cultural education. He fosters a safe space where students can learn and grow. He provides an environment where Indigenous stories and traditions can be shared. Tipi Joe is known for his exceptional storytelling and teaching abilities.
