GRADE 5 & 6 MOSAIC
December 21, 2022
The grade 5 & 6 team has worked on a giant inquiry project discovering and learning about Indigenous storytelling through research stories and legends. Each grade 5 & 6 class worked on a separate project that was shared with local visual artist, Dimitry Komar of Mosaika, who visited the school and helped students create a beautiful mosaic piece that hangs in the hallway near the office. This incredible piece tells the story of 'The Muskrat's Dive' or 'The Legend of Weesakayjack'. The muskrat's paw dives down underneath the water and scoops up the mud and places it on turtle's back to create Turtle Island (North America).
A huge thank you goes out to the grade 5 & 6 team of staff and students and to Dimitry Komar for his guidance and vision in helping to create this beautiful work of art. We hope our Tyndall Park families were able to view it during Triad Meetings.
