A Message From the Principal

September 12, 2023

Hello Earl Grey Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year.  We are so excited to welcome students and families back in our building and to re-engage in collaboratively learning in our amazing classrooms.

Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and to learn more about our incredible school!  As you browse through the exemplary programs we offer, you will get a feel of our philosophy and beliefs that drive the heartbeat of our school.  Make sure to also take a look at our Earl Grey School Blog which is updated on a regular basis and focuses on the learning and events that are happening throughout the year.

Earl Grey is located in-between Corydon and Pembina Hwy on the corner of Cockburn and Fleet and is part of a vibrant, dynamic and diverse multicultural community. We have 380 students and 45 staff. All of our staff-teachers, clinicians, teacher assistants, clerks, custodians and administration are committed to creating an safe and inclusive environment that facilitates academic and personal growth.

Earl Grey School is now 108 years old!!! We are a Nursery – Grade 8 School that offers a half day Nursery and Kindergarten Program, 2 year and 3 year Multiage Programs, a Spanish Bilingual Program and an All-Girls and All-Boys Multiage Junior High Program. Our Spanish Program is the only one in Manitoba and it attracts students from across our city.  It includes Kindergarten to Grade 8 as of this year. We offer French to our Grade 4 – 8 students and Spanish to our Grade 7/8 Students. Students from Grade 4-8 are engaged in student-centred learning and work with mentors to explore their passions and big questions. We value outdoor education and try to get outside as much as possible to explore in our outdoor classroom, gardens and community. We work hard to create citizens who care for their environment and what is happening in the world. Many classrooms experienced place-based learning from outdoors during our field trips to Fort Whyte and Bird’s Hill. Our Phys. Ed, Arts programs and extracurricular activities are integral to educating the whole child and developing our School Spirit and Community We work closely with our Families past and present to make sure that they feel welcome, valued and part of our School Community.

Parents also play a vital role in our Earl Grey School! A number of our parents support our children by volunteering, participating in the decision making process and through Home and School activities. They also keep a watchful eye out for our children who are walking to and from school! We are very excited at the prospect of having families partnering with us in the school as volunteers, please contact Miss Lisa in the office if you are interested.

We partner with three Daycares to support our students and families. Earl Grey Children's Centre is located in the basement of our building, Dante Daycare and The Club are located in the Earl Grey Community Centre right beside us.  Our PAC runs a very successful lunch program and we are always looking for Lunch Program Supervisors, if you or anyone you know would be available to work 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 times a week from 12:00 - 1:00 please email Tanya Sigurdson at eglunchprogram@gmail.com.

We are very proud to lead the learning at Earl Grey School and proud to be part of this wonderful community! If you would like to learn more about our school, please feel free to call or arrange a visit! We always like showing off our awesome school to the world!

We are an inclusive school; all are welcome here.

We are proud of the work we do!

At Earl Grey School we work together to  “Be Safe. Be Respectful. Be a Learner. Be part of the the community.”
