It was great to connect with families at Student-Led Conferences to showcase all of the learning that was done this term. From now until winter break, students will be using an informational lens during reading and writing workshop. Students will have the options to self-select a topic, research, and present their learning to the class, small group, or just in front of me. We will be taking a deep dive into informational, text structures, and how they can help us learn new information. In math workshop, we will be focusing on retention on a four-week Subtraction Sprint, using number lines, parts-whole thinking to move learning forward.
As promised from last month's newsletter, we have the results from our margarine versus butter science baking challenge: 80% of adults who taste-tested preferred butter, and the majority of students preferred margarine. The cookies were judged on look, taste, and texture. If you didn't get a chance to see the recipe, it is shared on Seesaw. Thank you so much for your support and your child's learning.
