Winter Fun Day & Lacrosse!

While the weather hasn't always been what we expect for the Winter time it  didn't stop Lord Selkirk from having a blast at Winter Fun Day. Students got to participate in a variety of different outdoor activities such as sledding, curling, broomball and tug of war. We were lucky to have our grade 6 students do a fantastic job leading the stations for the rest of the school just like what was done for them in previous years.

Back inside the gym students have been busy learning about Canada's national Summer sport, Lacrosse. Students learned about the historical significance of lacrosse to the First Nations people of Canada and how it has since evolved into the sport we see today. Additionally, students learned important lacrosse skills such as scooping, passing, catching and shooting. As we move forward into the Spring we will be learning about new sports such as team handball, t-ball, football and many more. Later in the spring our grade 5 and 6 students will have the opportunity to participate in a divisional ultimate football tournament.
