Arts Enrichment

Champlain School

MTG Matilda

The project aligns with both the Language Arts and Arts curriculum. Reading, writing, and the power of storytelling will engage students in the project, including examining how a film producer adapts the story into big screen film. The finale of the project is attending the production of the live musical of Matilda. Funding is Student Admissions/Registrations.

Glenelm School

Bach To Beatles 
This project is a musical presentation that is curriculum-based. Bach to Beatles includes storytelling about the composers and their music, including other composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi, and Pachelbel. The project will engage students in an educational voyage through musical history. Funding is Artist's Fee/Guest Speaker.

Montrose School

Drumming and Belonging at Montrose School
This project provides a team-building experience for students. This project also continues the relationship between Montrose School and Jay Stoller, resident drumming expert. Students will have the opportunity to further nourish both their drumming proficiencies and knowledge. The finale of the project will be an informal concert. The project also allows the students in Kindergarten and students in the Autism Centre to experience the excitement of African Drumming. Funding is Artist's Fee/Guest Speaker.

Shaughnessy Park School

Funding for this project will enhance the Music program at Shaughnessy Park School, with the replacement and repair of Orff Instruments. Students will have a better opportunity exploring music by using instruments th at a re in good condition and by having an instrument to play on a regular basis. The project will provide an opportunity for students at Inkster School to participate in an outdoor camping experience. Students will learn through cooperation, teamwork and positive leadership. Subjects and concepts covered include social studies, science, reading and writing, physical education and art. Funding is Camp Accommodations/Rental Fees.

Star Dome-Solar System - A Mobile Planetarium
tar Dome offers a unique outdoor learning experience for students studying the solar system. Using the mobile planetarium serves all learning styles; visual and auditory. Funding is Fee for Service/Performances.

The project provides opportunities for students to be immersed in learning environments that promote an appreciation of nature and sustainability practices. Friluftsliv (free-loofts-liv) means "free air life" Friluftsliv activities will include forest exploration through regular trips to Assiniboine Forest, Omand's Creek, Fort Whyte and Oak Hammock Marsh. Funding is Student Admissions, Film and Developing.

The Yoga for Kids program uses a multi-sensory approach in teaching children with fine motor, communication, and social skills difficulties. Yoga also improves the students' fitness levels, as they strengthen their bodies coordination, and enhance the physical and emotional well-being of participants. Kent Road School

Exploration Time 
This project will provide both students and teachers the opportunity to work together, developing and creating new activities that are cross-curricular, such as cooking, arts and crafts, and science experiments. Literacy Project Grade N-6 
This project will continue literacy development and strategies used by teachers to increase language vocabulary acquisition and to further student engagement. Teachers are planning lessons using texts available through school subscriptions. The school will purchase subscriptions for both French Language Arts and English Language Arts. Niji Mahkwa School

Parents and Students Working Together 
The Homework Club will resume at Niji Mahkwa School. The club provides an opportunity for parents to participate in their children's learning, focusing on literacy and numeracy. Typically this club targets students who live in close proximity to the school, and who are able to participate on a regular basis. The project is offered to students in grad es 3 to 8. Students will also continue their volunteer work in the community and participate in the Elder/Youth Circle once per month. Sargent Park School

Grade 7 Ecosystem Exploration 
The objective of this project is to explore a new biome (a community of plants and animals), and to develop camaraderie and teamwork. Along with integrating the Science curriculum, students will connect with a new friend in a natural enviornment, they will feel comfortable and safe in their peer group, which will build a stronger community at Sargent Park School. Funding is Student Admissions/Registrations.

William Whyte School

This project focuses on Literacy, and the funds will assist with the development of levelled libraries in Nursery to Grade 3 classrooms. Students will be able to choose books for independent home reading on a regular basis. Funding is Home Reading resources/Book Lending.

Kent Road School

Friendship Group 
The objective of this project is to assist in providing students with skills for developing positive relationships, growing together as a group, problem solving, and dealing with peer pressure. Students will meet to take part in activities promoting skills in the project's objective. This is a continued and growing event at Kent Road School, allowing two groups this year to run at the same time. Funding is Supplies Not Available in School.

The project objective is to transform the central courtyard to an alternative learning environment, to be used in conjunction with the outdoor education program, yoga/physical education classes, foods and nutrition classes, and for community gatherings. Play Structure Replacement 
Funding for this project will support the replacement of the current play structure, which is unsafe, outdated, and not accessible to all students.
