Room 2

June 25, 2024

During the month of May we have been enjoying the warm weather, spending time on the play structure. Many of the students have been playing tag, which is a great game to get to know your fellow classmates. We have had five new students join our classroom community over the past two months, and the students did a fantastic job at making them feel welcome. The students have been busy this past month with a variety of activities. Starting off the month of May we sequenced the events in the book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” and also talked about healthy eating. The words we used to describe a sequence are “first, then, next, and last.”  We also sequenced the steps for planting, because each student had the opportunity to plant and bring home a plant for a Mother’s Day gift. Choosing a plant was the best part! We have also been talking about trees, and their parts. So, for Art they painted a tree, using Q-tips. They got to experiment using a different tool, rather than a paint brush. They also got practice blending colours. As the school year is ending, we have continued to practice our social-emotional skills, as well as being attentive and focused during our learning time. May has been a marvelous month, and I am looking forward to a joyful June.
